For law enforcement: These guidelines explain how Modern Day Matchmaking LLC responds to requests for user information from law enforcement and government agencies. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our members while cooperating with valid legal process and supporting public safety. This page is informational and does not waive any of our or our users' rights.
Modern Day Matchmaking LLC ("MDM", "we", "us", or "our") is a matchmaking service based in Boulder, Colorado. We recognize the important work of law enforcement and are committed to responding to lawful requests for information in a manner consistent with applicable law, our Privacy Policy, and our users' rights.
As a small business, we hold a limited amount of member information, such as application and assessment details, contact information, and communications with us. We will review each request carefully and disclose information only to the extent required or permitted by law.
Law enforcement officials may submit requests for member information by email to hello@moderndaymatchmaking.com with the subject line "Law Enforcement Request." To help us respond accurately and promptly, please include:
Requests that are overly broad, vague, or unsupported by valid legal process may be narrowed or declined.
We require valid legal process appropriate to the type of information requested. In general:
We will not disclose information without appropriate legal process except in the limited emergency circumstances described in Section 4, or where otherwise permitted or required by law.
If a request involves a genuine emergency — an imminent risk of death or serious physical harm to any person — law enforcement may submit an Emergency Disclosure Request to hello@moderndaymatchmaking.com with "EMERGENCY" in the subject line.
The request should describe the nature of the emergency, the specific harm and why it is imminent, the person at risk, and the information needed to address it. In such cases, we may voluntarily disclose information to the extent we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to prevent the emergency, as permitted by law.
Law enforcement may request that we preserve specific member records pending the issuance of valid legal process. Preservation requests should identify the relevant user(s) and the information to be preserved. Where reasonable and lawful, we will take steps to preserve available records for a limited period pending receipt of valid legal process.
Our policy is to notify members of requests for their information before disclosure, so that they may seek to protect their rights, unless we are prohibited from doing so by law or court order, or unless we believe in good faith that notice would be counterproductive or would create a risk of harm. Exceptions include emergencies and matters involving child safety.
We have a zero-tolerance policy toward child sexual abuse and exploitation, as described in our Acceptable Use Policy. Where we become aware of apparent child sexual exploitation, we will preserve relevant information, report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or appropriate authorities, and cooperate with resulting investigations.
We may take reasonable steps to verify the authenticity of any request and the identity of the requesting official before responding, including contacting the agency through publicly listed channels. Requests must come from official government channels; we may decline requests we cannot authenticate. We reserve the right to seek reimbursement for costs associated with responding to legal process, to the extent permitted by law.
