All paid MDM members are required to complete a background check before receiving introductions. This check is conducted by a vetted third-party provider and covers criminal history and identity verification.
Background check results are reviewed only by the MDM team. They are never shared with other members. The results inform our team's decision-making around member safety but are not shared in any introduction note or profile summary.
By enrolling as a paid member, you provide your explicit consent to the background check process. If you do not pass the background check, you will be notified and your membership will not proceed. Fees paid prior to the background check result may be subject to our refund policy.
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. We use a tiered retention approach to minimize the time we hold sensitive data. Specifically:

MDM does not use automated decision-making tools to accept or reject members or determine introductions. All membership and introduction decisions are made by human review.

In the past 12 months, MDM has collected: identifiers (name, email, date of birth); compatibility assessment responses (which may constitute sensitive personal information under CPRA); photographs; payment information processed by Stripe, Inc.; background check authorization data processed by Checkr, Inc.; and website usage data.

MDM collects compatibility assessment data that may qualify as sensitive personal information under CPRA. This data is used only to provide our matchmaking service. You have the right to request that MDM limit its use of your sensitive personal information to purposes necessary to perform the requested service.
MDM offers a free tier (The Network) that collects personal data while paid tiers provide enhanced matchmaking services. Participation in the free tier is voluntary. You may opt out of the free tier at any time by contacting us.
